Job Title: Armed Security Driver (Patrol & Site Response)
Company: Kates Detective & Security Agency, Inc.
Location: Chicago, IL (citywide assignments)
Status: Full-time & Part-time | 8–12 hr shifts (days/evenings/overnights, weekends/holidays)
Compensation: $19.25/hour

About the Role

Kates is hiring experienced Armed Security Drivers to conduct vehicle patrols, respond to service calls, provide high-visibility presence, and support site officers across Chicago. You’ll operate a company vehicle , protect people and property, and document all activity with clear, timely reports.

What You’ll Do

• Conduct scheduled and unscheduled vehicle patrols , perimeter checks, escorts, and site lock/unlock.
• Respond to alarms, disturbances, and dispatch calls; de-escalate and stabilize scenes within policy.
• Enforce post orders, client rules, and company standards; maintain professional demeanor with the public.
• Complete accurate incident/shift reports , evidence preservation (as directed), and radio/phone communications.
• Perform vehicle safety checks , follow all traffic laws, and adhere to strict seatbelt and driving policies.
• Use company apps (timekeeping/guard tour) for checkpoints, notes, and photo uploads.

Minimum Requirements

• 25+ years old and eligible to work in the U.S.
• Valid Illinois Driver’s License with clean MVR (no major violations in past 3 years).
• Illinois PERC , FOID , and Firearm Control Card (FCC)—current and in good standing.
• Completed IDFPR-required training (20-hr basic + 20-hr firearms) with current annual qualification.
• Ability to stand/walk/sit for long periods; lift/push/pull up to 25–50 lbs as needed.
• Professional, calm communication; solid report writing skills; smartphone proficiency.

Preferred

• Prior armed patrol/driver or military experience.
• Knowledge of Chicago neighborhoods and city driving in all weather conditions.
• CPR/First Aid, de-escalation, defensive driving certifications.

Schedule & Pay

• Multiple shifts available; overtime may be available.
