Description Summary IBJI Certified Athletic Trainers (ATC) are an integral part of a fast-paced orthopedic practice that must excel in IBJI’s core values of patient-centric care, musculoskeletal care, and teamwork. The role of the ATC functions as a liaison between the patients, physicians, physical therapists, and clinical support staff. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: providing superior care to patients and clients, providing athletic training coverage at various contracted events, and educating the public on injury and other health-related awareness/prevention topics. All responsibilities should be performed while maintaining the highest standard of care and integrity in order to provide the best patient experience possible.
Responsibilities - Promote excellent patient care.
- Demonstrate clear and effective communication skills to patients to educate them about their plan of care.
- Develop positive relationships with the physician teams at IBJI.
- Communicate with physicians, clinical staff, and parents regarding patients’ conditions, treatments, and protocols.
- Develop rehabilitation and treatment regimens in conjunction with physician recommendations.
- Proper referral of patients for appropriate diagnostic and follow-up procedures and subsequent injury tracking.
- Compliance with completing daily paperwork and maintaining patient documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Participates in programs sponsored by IBJI: clinical meetings, mentoring, clinical educator, special interest groups, community outreach.
- Prevention, recognition, evaluation, triage, rehabilitation, and reconditioning of all athletic injuries for patients and athletes of varying ages.
- Demonstrates good understanding of proper body mechanics
- Independently schedule and perform DME brace fitting and educate patients with proper donning and doffing.
- Outreach ATCs will be required to provide medical coverage at outside games, practices and/or tournaments. These events will be scheduled with the Athletic Training Program Coordinator and may include weekend and/or evening events.
- Return voicemail and email messages from patients and clinical staff in a timely manner.
- Attend continuing education seminars to keep Illinois license in good standing.
- Always follow HIPAA/OSHA guidelines and regulations.
- Other duties may be assigned at any time by the supervisor.
Requirements Qualifications - Graduate from an accredited Athletic Training Program
- New graduates are welcome to apply
- BOC Certified Athletic Trainer
- Hold or eligible for Illinois Licensure as an Athletic Trainer in good standing.
- Professional and effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong rehabilitation skill set preferred
- Additional manual therapy or sports performance background preferred, but not required.
- Experience working in a physician or physical therapy clinic preferred, but not required.
- Able to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment.
- Able to function as a team leader
Physical Requirements - Ability to lift greater than 25 pounds
- Demonstrates good understanding of proper body mechanics for lifting, pulling, pushing
- Ability to be stand and sit for sequences of time greater than 30 minutes
- Ability to work on a computer for lengthy times during the day
Conduct It is IBJI’s expectation that ATC’s will conduct themselves in a manner which is at all times, courteous, professional and promotes a positive image of IBJI. The ATC will at times be called upon to act as a physician’s representative, and as such will set the example for other employees in dependability, punctuality, positive attitude and adherence to policies and procedures.

Base salary offers for this position may vary based on factors such as location, skills and relevant experience. Salary Description
$52,500-$64,000/year based on skills/experience
