The Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) was established in 1927. Housed within the California Labor and Workforce Development Agency (LWDA), the Department is dedicated to improving working conditions for California's 18million wage earners and advancing opportunities for profitable employment in California. The Department administers and enforces laws governing wages,hours worked, retaliation, workplace safety and health, apprenticeship training programs, medical care, and other benefits for injured workers.
Under general direction from the Senior Apprenticeship Consultant within the Division of Apprenticeship Standards, the Apprenticeship Consultant is responsible for providing technical assistance, guidance and support to apprenticeship and on-the-job training programs while serving as a source of information to workers, employers, their representatives, and the general public regarding Apprenticeship, Pre-Apprenticeship and On-The-job training programs. Duties include, but are not limited to the following: Develop and consult with Apprenticeship and "On-The-Job" training programs, provide guidance on compliance with state and federal apprenticeship laws and regulations, conduct program reviews, attend apprenticeship program meetings, public meetings, job fairs and outreach events. Attend and advise at meetings and outreach events; work remotely at home; collaborate with staff statewide to complete work assignments. Occasional travel required that may include driving or flights.Flexible Schedule: May require early start and/or late night meetings, infrequent overnight stays.
