Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused 1st Shift Yard Jockey. This position is responsible for the efficient movement of trailers within the yard, including backing trailers into dock doors and staging areas, and weighing all outbound trailers at the end of each shift. The ideal candidate has experience operating yard trucks or semi-trailers and maintains a strong commitment to safety and teamwork. This position is in NEW MARKET, VA and MUST HAVE A VALID CDL

Pay: $21 an hour

Key Responsibilities:

• Hiring a Driver FIRST Shift; (3:00 AM-2PM) ; MUST BE ABLE TO DRIVE A MANUAL
• Move and spot trailers to and from dock doors and yard locations safely and efficiently.
• Back trailers into shipping and receiving doors as directed by warehouse personnel.
• Weigh all trailers before they leave the facility and ensure accurate documentation.
• Conduct pre- and post-shift inspections on yard tractor and report any maintenance needs.
• Maintain communication with shipping/receiving teams and dispatch to coordinate trailer movement.
• Maintain a clean and organized yard and follow all site safety procedures.
• Complete shift paperwork and logs as required.

Requirements:

• Previous experience as a yard jockey or hostler preferred.
• Ability to safely back and maneuver trailers into tight dock positions.
• Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety protocols.
• Ability to work the full first shift schedule (3:00 AM-2:00 PM)
• Valid CDL license required.
• Must pass pre-employment background and drug screen.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to climb in and out of tractors and trailers frequently.
• Ability to work in varying weather conditions.
