Specialist (Nurse Practitioner)

The Division of Gastroenterology & Nutrition in the Department of Medicine, Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio has a full-time opening for a Nurse Practitioner faculty member. We are seeking qualified individuals with a strong commitment to patient centered care and innovative team-based care.

• The selected candidates will work outpatient clinical duties at UT Health San Antonio – De Zavala and Mays Cancer Center Clinics.
• This position also includes clinical teaching opportunities.
• Performs physical examinations, orders laboratory and medical imaging tests, makes preliminary diagnoses, and provides treatments.
• Assists in diagnostic and therapeutic management of patients by performing a variety of medical or surgical tasks.
• Instructs and counsels patients on various medical related subjects.
• Obtains complete medical history from patients, performs physical examinations, organizes and presents the physical data, together with evaluation and recommendations, in such a way as to permit the nurse practitioner to visualize the problem and determine appropriate diagnostic procedures.
• This position will hold a faculty appointment of Specialist. UT Health San Antonio offers a competitive salary, a comprehensive insurance package, and a generous retirement plan.

Position Qualifications:

Candidate will preferably have at least one to three years of prior experience in acute and chronic disease direct patient care management. New graduates are welcome to apply as well. Applicants should be prepared to manage a wide range of complex problems presenting in an outpatient setting. Texas licensure and board certification as an acute care nurse practitioner is required.
