SEIU Local 509 is a progressive union organizing and representing over 28,000 human service workers and educators in Massachusetts. We are currently seeking to hire a new full time permanent Internal Organizer , with contract negotiation experience, to represent private sector human service workers. A successful applicant will join a team of 7 experienced negotiators. Position will remain open until filled.
As of now, the turf assignments for this organizer will be concentrated in the South Shore and Cape area of Massachusetts. This job will require significant in-person time at agencies in that area.
Goals: Represent the lowest paid human service workers in Massachusetts. Build worker power to beat the bosses at the bargaining table to raise wages for workers and improve benefits. Organize workers so they are ready to strike when needed.

Works under the supervision of the Private Sector Coordinator, who reviews work for effectiveness, timeliness, accuracy and conformance with rules and regulations.
Supervision Exercised:
May supervise interns directly; may provide functional supervision for other employees or members on per diem.
Compensation and Benefits:
Effective 1/1/25: $88,426 – $100,172 depending on experience/qualifications with excellent benefits.
