The Department of Psychology ( within the College of Arts and Sciences ( at the University at Albany invites applications for a full-time non-tenure-track Lecturer (10 Months) to teach within our online undergraduate Psychology degree program. The position will begin January 1, 2026, for a one-year term appointment with the potential for renewal.
The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching three online courses per semester (six courses per academic year), developing and delivering online course materials, contributing to the program's curriculum, mentoring and advising students, and enhancing student engagement in a virtual environment. Additionally, the candidate will participate in service at the departmental, college, and university levels. This position may include instruction in both introductory and advanced courses. The ability to teach courses in statistics and research methods is especially desirable.
Candidates must have a graduate degree in Psychology, extensive experience in online teaching, and a demonstrated appreciation for research. The ideal candidate will have experience with innovative online instructional strategies and certification in online instruction.
The Department of Psychology ( offers Bachelor's, Master's, PhD degrees with concentrations in Behavioral Neuroscience, Cognitive Psychology, Social Psychology, Clinical Psychology, and Industrial/Organizational Psychology. The University at Albany also has a vibrant community of faculty across various departments and offers a collaborative and supportive environment.
The responsibilities of this position can be fulfilled wholly remotely.

Primary Responsibilities:
Teaching: Educating students, mentoring them, and fostering their intellectual development, which includes teaching online undergraduate courses and course preparation and development.
Service: Contributing to the governance and functioning of the university, college, and department including participating in recruitment and retention activities, and mentoring students.
Functional and Supervisory Relationships:
Reports to: Psychology Department Chair
Job Requirements:
Sound knowledge of the psychology discipline and effective and innovative online instructional techniques and strategies
Excellent organizational skills and multitasking abilities.
Effective communication, approachability, and collegiality.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. degree in Psychology from a college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization by 1/1/2026.
Experience in online teaching at the collegiate level.
Experience in online curriculum development at the collegiate level.

Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in online instruction
Experience teaching statistics, experimental design and/or writing course online as the instructor of record at the college-level
