Job Title: Medical Assistant
Job Description
As a Medical Assistant, you will coordinate patient care and flow by escorting patients to exam rooms, obtaining brief histories, and vital signs, and entering data into the electronic health record system (EHR). You will update records for clinician review, assist with procedures, and perform patient-specific tasks after visits. Additional duties include completing consent forms, providing patient education, and stocking exam rooms.
Responsibilities
+ Escort patients to exam rooms and obtain brief histories and vital signs.
+ Enter data into the electronic health record system (EHR) and update records for clinician review.
+ Assist clinicians with procedures, including preparing patients for exams.
+ Perform patient-specific tasks for clinicians post-visit.
+ Complete consent forms and provide patient education and referral materials.
+ Clean and stock exam rooms before, during, and after clinic sessions.
+ Answer incoming calls and assist with appointment scheduling when performing front desk duties.
+ Review the upcoming week's schedule to ensure necessary supplies are stocked.
+ Complete e-prescribing tasks and EHR assignments accurately and timely.
+ Review and assist with pending EHR tasks at the end of visits.
+ Maintain EHR records accurately following clinic policies and procedures.
+ Assist in the laboratory as necessary.
+ Complete tasks in the case management system daily.
+ Enroll patients in the Patient Assistance Program.
Essential Skills
+ Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and medical assisting.
+ Ability to take accurate vital signs and perform healthcare support tasks.
+ Strong customer service skills.
+ Medical Assistant certification (MA cert) and CPR certification.
+ High school diploma or GED.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with appointment scheduling and healthcare support.
+ Knowledge of the Epic EHR system is beneficial.
+ Pediatric care skills are advantageous.
+ Open to entry-level candidates and new grads
Work Environment
This role requires working onsite at a fast-paced clinic, where you will see between 20 to 40 patients daily, depending on the site. A team environment is essential, and the primary demographic is Spanish-speaking patients. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Santa Barbara, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
