Description: Clarkson University and ANCA’s Compost for Good (CfG) program are seeking a Project Coordinator for a set of food waste reduction and recycling grants. With grants through USDA’s Rural Business Development Grant (RBDG) program, Clarkson and CfG have promoted the sustainable management of wasted food in several communities in Northern NY for 4 years. Funding for work in 2026 will expand education and community focused outreach campaigns through the creation of a network of volunteer food waste reduction stewards throughout the North Country. We are seeking a Project Coordinator to support implementation of the grant deliverables, including on-going communication with, and organization and support for the food waste stewards; updates of the toolkit and outreach resources, including graphic design; conducting community outreach and communication activities including social media management; and, conducting food waste assessments.*
Requirements: Reliable transportation; Ability to work independently but in coordination with a team; Strong interest in community vitality; Remote work with option for office space in Saranac Lake and/or Potsdam
Preferred: Strong communication, outreach/education, project management and organizational skills. Experience with community-focused grant implementation. Skilled at spreadsheet, word processing, marketing, social media, and graphic design (e.g., Canva) software. Experience with food systems, soil health, and/or sustainable waste management strategies.
Compensation: 20 hours/week through December 2026 (with a potential for extension). $20-25/hour commensurate with experience. Travel will also be compensated. The successful candidate will act as a consultant to Clarkson.

*Food waste assessments help generators of food scraps understand where, how and how much they generate and strategies for reducing or recycling that waste (e.g., schools, restaurants, grocery stores).
