Job Description

POSITION   SUMMARY

The Recreation Assistant for Club Sports & Outdoor Recreation will assist in the logistical planning, coordination, and operation for the Competitive Club Sports programs (Ultimate Frisbee and Water Polo) and the Grinnell Outdoor Recreation Program ( GORP ). Duties consist of coordination of travel/logistics, supervision of student participants, weekend travel with programs, and management of  GORP equipment.

This role requires the candidate to travel occasionally on overnight trips (up to 20% of the time).

KEY   RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in logistical planning, coordination and operation for the Competitive Club Sports programs
  • Assist in logistical planning, coordination, and operation of the Grinnell Outdoor Recreation Program
  • Supervision of students
  • Management of any equipment required

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree ( GED )
  • Less than six months work experience required
  • CPR /First Aid/ AED certification are required, but opportunities exist after hiring for college to provide these.
  • Valid driver’s license with no traffic violations. Be able to drive large 11-passenger vans, and minibus during daytime and nighttime.
  • Strong ability to plan and organize events and travel
  • Adaptability to student needs, events, and changes is critical
  • Strong Interpersonal versatility skills

Preferred Qualifications

PR/First Aid/ AED certification are preferred. Opportunities exist after hiring for Grinnell to provide these. Valid driver’s license with no traffic violations.

Be able to drive minivans, large 11-passenger vans, and minibus during daytime and nightime driving times.
