Job Description

Job Summary:

The Providence Center Security Supervisor protects the Center and facilities, its clients, visitors and staff against the hazards of crime, fire, trespass, and other emergencies. Maintain decorum of all persons and assist in the enforcement of The Providence Center rules, policies and regulations. Provide leadership and expertise to the TPC security team regarding security-related matters.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist the Department Head in supervising activities of security personnel to maintain safe and secure conditions in the facility and on the grounds.

Surveys facility and grounds, covering his/her assigned area while also observing guards at work to determine instruction sheets are being followed, safety and care are being exercised, areas are being properly patrolled and properly secured.

Keeps records of employees: job performance and duties on assigned shifts, other reports deemed necessary by the Security Supervisor.

Works with Department Head on orienting and instructing new personnel: trains in the use of security equipment and vehicles, proper security procedures to follow, closely supervises new staff until properly trained.

Attends orientation and ongoing in-service education as required.

Participates in applicable quality improvement activities.

In absence of Department Head, prepares daily work schedules: routine duties, special areas for attention and special instructions, ensures adequate service and staff to all areas (provide coverage by other staff in the event of sickness, vacation, or absence of scheduled security guard).

Maintain a physical presence on the property.

Must be able to obtain and maintain CPI, HWC and any additional de-escalation trainings.

Patrol TPC facilities in their entirety including parking areas and perimeter checks to prevent fires, theft and vandalism.

Look for “Park and Ride” vehicles, issue warnings via the paging system and call towing company as needed.

Escort employees to parking area as requested.

Investigate incidents of unusual occurrences reported by clients, visitors or staff.

Document investigative steps and results and complete incident reports as required by policy.

Monitor functionality of security systems.

Enter WRs as needed for maintenance items.

Respond to all support team calls.

Assist in client restraint as necessary.

Report all safety and security hazards to manager.

Patrol facilities and grounds inspecting doors, windows and locks.

Inspect fire safety equipment or any other equipment/property as assigned.

Conduct and monitor fire drills, complete Fire Drill Evaluation Form.

Assure safety of clients, visitors, staff and facilities during emergency situations.

Conduct safety assessments of main buildings, submit any applicable work requests and ensure completion of work.

Conduct biannual vehicle safety assessments, report findings and work with Maintenance Supervisor to ensure any needed repairs are completed.

Issue ID/Access Badges for employees upon hire and on as-needed basis.

Monitor ID/Access badge supply levels.

Conduct job responsibilities in accordance with the standards, policies and procedures set forth by TPC and by any applicable federal and state laws.

Attend/complete mandatory in-service trainings and other trainings as required, as well as participate in staff meetings.

Maintain monthly security schedule, working with manager to ensure coverage at buildings, compliance with training schedule and availability of security team to cover necessary functions.

Work with the Environment of Care Committee to ensure policies and procedures appropriately apply to functions within the Center.

Other duties as assigned or required.

Requirements:

High School or GED Required; Associates Degree Preferred.

Minimum of 3-to-5 years of security or related experience.

Must have valid driver's license, registration, current inspection and insured automobile.

Ability to survey facility and grounds, covering assigned area while also observing guards at work.

Ensure areas are being properly patrolled and properly secured. This includes ability to sit, stand, walk, drive, lift, see close up, distance, and peripheral clearly, and hear and speak clearly.

Ability to respond to common and crisis situations in a calm and efficient manner.

Enhanced observational skill set desired.

Combination of inside as well as outside which could include outdoor weather conditions, work near mechanical parts and/or chemicals, work near/around airborne fumes/particles, and exposure to extreme temperatures. Environment can become hostile at times.

Public relations and customer service skills, as well as ability to respond appropriately to a large population with a variety of sensitivities.

Ability to lead the work of others. Ability to deal with team members regarding problems in a constructive manner using problem solving, mediation and conflict resolution techniques.

Accept and use direction and supervision.

Ability to keep records and provide reports to Director. Ability to train staff in all aspects of Security Guard position, including updated protocol and procedures.

Observes all relevant risk management and safety policies and procedures.

Demonstrates competence in day-to-day interactions with clients and center staff.
