Full-time | On-site (5 days/week initially)
Salary: $70,000-$100,000 depending on experience
One of the most renowned Structural Engineering consultancies based in New York City is seeking a CAD Technician with a background in structural or geotechnical engineering to join their design team. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex and technically demanding infrastructure and building projects in one of the most exciting urban environments in the world.
The ideal candidate will be experienced in Revit and MicroStation (not a must) , and possess a solid understanding of structural elements such as columns, beams, bracing systems , and foundational components. You will work closely with engineers, architects, and other CAD professionals to produce detailed, accurate drawings and 3D models.
Create and edit 2D and 3D CAD drawings using Revit , AutoCAD , and MicroStation
Prepare detailed structural drawings for engineering design and construction
Interpret sketches, notes, and mark-ups to produce accurate documentation
Collaborate with engineers and project managers to ensure design accuracy
Generate surface and solid models for deep foundations, support of excavation (SOE), and structural systems
Maintain quality standards across all design documentation
Review and modify designs based on feedback and design changes
Occasionally visit job sites to support design coordination
2-5+ years of experience as a CAD Technician, preferably in structural or geotechnical projects
Proficiency with Revit will help secure this position, but not a deal breaker
Experience with MicroStation is preffered
Familiarity with AutoCAD (for file handling, publishing, Xrefs, layout viewports, etc.)
Strong understanding of structural components: concrete reinforcing, steel detailing, timber elements
Ability to work from rough sketches and produce highly detailed CAD models and plans
Comfortable with Metric and Imperial systems
Autodesk Certification or Bentley experience a plus
Comes from a structural, geotechnical, or heavy construction background
Has hands-on experience drafting structural framing and foundation plans
Is highly organized, detail-oriented, and committed to quality
Able to work independently and as part of a high-performing team
Open to being onsite full-time during the first phase of onboarding (hybrid flexibility may be available after)
Work on major NYC-based infrastructure and structural projects
